Town in Red Deer County

Who services furnaces and plumbing in Bowden?

Elite Home Services, a local, family-owned heating, cooling and plumbing company that has served Mountain View County for more than 18 years. In Bowden the team repairs and replaces furnaces, services water heaters and boilers, installs air conditioning and handles plumbing and drains, with emergency repair 24/7.

Bowden is on the QEII in Red Deer County, about 45 km south of Red Deer, where the first section of Highway 2A ends. The area was first called Lone Pine, after a well-known stopping place on the Calgary to Edmonton Trail, and the most widely accepted story says a local surveyor suggested his wife's maiden name for the town. Passenger trains arrived in 1891, and Bowden became a village in 1904 and a town in 1981.

During the Second World War, RCAF Station Bowden was home to No. 32 Elementary Flying Training School, a site that later became the Bowden Institution. Today the Bowden Pioneer Museum fills the old curling rink, about 300 students attend Bowden Grandview School from kindergarten to grade 12, and the annual Bowden Daze Pro Rodeo comes each summer. There is a nine-hole golf course, and Red Lodge Provincial Park is nearby.

In the 2021 census, 48.3% of Bowden's occupied homes were built between 1961 and 1980, the highest share of any town, village or hamlet Elite Home Services covers, and 62.1% are single-detached. Treated water comes from the Mountain View Regional Water Services Commission into the town's reservoir and is tested twice daily.

What that means for your home

  • A furnace in a house from the 1960s or 70s is probably not the first one the house has had. When it is time to replace it, the new unit should be sized for the house as it is now, insulation and windows included.
  • Drain lines in older homes collect years of buildup. A slow drain is easier to clear before it backs up.

★★★★★Gavin and Liam were excellent! We had Gavin come out and do a consult for us last winter when we noticed our furnace was acting up and made a plan to replace it. Today they came out and got the new one in place! Efficient and very knowledgeable. Very happy with the service.

He was very professional and he handled our problem quickly and efficiently, and we weren't overcharged for the holiday, like a couple other places insisted on doing.
